My ancestor, William Fraser Sr. (1773-1838) left "Bonevinity" in July 1807 with his wife Jennet Davidson and their young boy Thomas. A month later, they departed Greenock for America. They settled originally in Johnstown, NY and later moved to Livingston County in western NY. Does anyone on the list know anything about this place called "Bonevinity"? My best guess is that it is a farm or croft name in the general area of Kingussie, Alvie, or Rothiemurchus, even though it does not really sound like a farm name. William and Jennet's son Thomas was christened in Alvie Parish Church in 1804. At that time, the couple lived at Lynwilg Farm, a mile or two from Alvie.
