I found Annie in the 1881 census under the name Kinnlay (an error) living on Radnor St. in Manchester in the household of Elizabeth Hall. I got this address from her marriage reg. and the name Elizabeth Hall confirmed that I had the correct person. Elizabeth Hall was a witness at Annie's wedding which occurred later in the same year. Annie appears to have been a dressmaker. No sign of her Scottish Kennedy family however. If I could just find her father and mother......and her siblings I might be able to trace down to living descendants! This lady breaks my heart. She has gone from being just a myth in a very mixed up family tree to having a name, to having a date of death (a tragic one) and an approximate date of birth. It is so unfortunate that her mother was not listed on her marriage registration! Then I might be able to use the LDS material. Sylvia
Sylvia, I couldn't find a Donald Kennedy in the Chapel Yard monumental inscriptions, but as it may be a good idea to collect all references to a Donald Kennedy, am copying this out from Inverness East district by Alastair Beattie and Margaret Beattie: A. Dalarossie Churchyard, No 2, John Kennedy, late fm Croft of Dalarossie, d 31.5.1855 a 84y, w Janet MacLean d 25.5.1850 a 77y, chn Donald, Alexander, Duncan and Allan K d inf, by surviving sons John and Donald K. 1821 census of Moy: Croft of Dalar' -Jno Kennedy Evan " John " Ann " Isobel " Jamessie " Janet McLean While 1831 Moy: Higher Croft of Dalarossie -John Kennedy Donald " John McDonald -Janet McLean Isobella Kennedy (The 1821 census for Moy mentions a Donald Kennedy at Press, parents I think being Alexander and Ann; another Donald K at Heights of Dalmagerry; 1831 census for Moy Daniel Kennedy at Dalmagerry; also Donald at Higher Croft of Dalarossie) (there are 3 more Kennedy families here in cemetery but no mention of Donald alive about 1857). B. Petty churchyard 99 by William Kennedy, weaver, Lochend of Clans, w Janet Mackintosh d 8.2.1826 a 73y, s Donald K d (rest lost in concrete setting) (3 other Kennedy monuments, but no mention Donald alive abt 1857) For info, Jane -----Original Message----- From: sylvia glassford [mailto:tlse.glass@sympatico.ca] Sent: 30 December 2005 02:13 To: Jane Macgillivray; SCT-INVERNESS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SCT-INV] Kennedy I found Annie in the 1881 census under the name Kinnlay (an error) living on Radnor St. in Manchester in the household of Elizabeth Hall.
