Hi Shirley Could be worth your while going to the 'edina' site where they have the statistical accounts for Scotland (google will find this) as the first Statistical Account was made around your dates. The ministers often noted how many people of non Church of Scotland allegiance were in their parish. If you are lucky it will say the number of RC families and that could be very useful info.
