I am in the process of editing an Ahnentafel written by someone else. The place name had been typed into a genealogical program as Inverness Shire. Is this correct? Or Invernesshire? Or Inverness, omitting the word Shire? At present it reads as follows: "John Og McIntosh was born on 6 March 1753 in Inverrnesshire, Scotland. He died on 28 Jan 1829 in Wabash County, Illinois. He was buried in Sand Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois. He married Sarah Bennett in June 1782 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania." I believe the double-r is incorrect.
