James Russell (1761-1844) & Isabella Fraser (1781-1853). Unfortunately, the five names extracted from the IGI by Lorna were children born to Rev. Alexander Fraser, minister of Inverness & Isabel Munro. Rev. James Russell, minister of Gairloch (1802), married, 11 Jan 1811, Isabella Munro Fraser, daughter of Alexander Fraser of Bught, shipowner, Inverness, by his wife Annabella Munro. For a story about this Fraser family, see Chasing Ancestors at www.electricscotland.com/canada/fraser/chasing_ancestors.htm Children of Rev. James Russell & Isabella Fraser: Annabella Russell (1811-1854) married 11 Aug 1830 Col. Roderick Matheson (1792-1873) as his second wife. Col. Matheson, 1st Regiment, Lanark Militia, married first Mary Fraser Robertson. Eliza Jean Russell (1813-1886) married 28 Nov 1832 Alexander Allan, Evanton. Rev. Alexander Russell, of Kilmodan (1814-1892) married 2 July 1845 Madeline Rose Munro (1815-1899), d/o Donald Munro, excise officer, Skye. Jessie Russell (1816-1883) married 2 Aug 1834 Rev. Donald Macrae, of Poolewe (1801-1868). James Russell (1818-1854) – drowned in Hamilton, Ontario. John Russell (1820-1850) Inverness Chapel Yard #1824 {Curved + shoulders, eroding} John F Russell, 3rd son of the late Revd James Russell of Gairloch, born 23rd November 1820, died 3rd November 1850. In memory of his piety & affection his afflicted mother has placed this stone. William Fraser Russell (1822-1897). It is very tempting to jump to conclusions by relying only on the IGI records, without checking the actual entries in parish records, so I trust the above will be useful to others researching this family.
