Its pronounced "murry" but spelt Moray or Morayshire. Go to genuki.co.uk for info or search on google to find 'The Statistical Accounts for Scotland'. These are parish by parish descriptions and the second account is from around the time of your man's birth. You will not find a birth cert at that date. Christening records may be in Old Parish Records but not for those outside the established church.
