Can't tell you the distance, but do know the folk at the Clan Donald Centre in the south of the Island have an amazing amount of records and are extremely helpful, I was there in 2000 and a lovely woman there called Maggie McDonald was most helpful, if she is still there say 'hello' to her for me!
