Hello, I am e-mailing from Truro,Nova Scotia,Canada. I am sesarching information on Charles MacKinnon. He was an 82nd Highland Regiment soldier. The 82nd Regiment was raised in 1778 in Lanarkshire .It was disbanded in Halifax Nova Scotia in 1783 or 1784. It was at this times that Charles MacKinnon,said to be of Barra,was granted 100 acres of land in Merigomish Pictou County,Nova Scotia Canada. He was granted 500 in 1792 in the same area. This is my first effort in Scotland to find information about Charles MacKinnon.I am wondering if there is information on the 82nd Regiment that may provide more background on specifically where Charles MacKinnon was from.
