Here's a poser! I have been looking for a family line fathered by Duncan MacDonell, the brother of Ewen (Hugh) who was my gggrandfather. Both brothers came to Australia in or around 1852 with their widowed mother.. Duncan was last seen in the State of Victoria at his brothers wedding in 1856 and is believed to have lived after this in South Australia, an adjoining State. He was still alive in 1873 (from his mothers death certificate in Victoria). Unfortunately, the death certificates issued in South Australia do not list either the deceased parents nor his origins. I have three possibles from the death records, each are possibles but none of the descendants of each know anything of Duncans origins. At least one of the descendants, a 70 yr old male MacDonald has agreed to DNA testing with me, a 62 y/o male MacDonald. Would anyone know if: A. testing would confirm a direct relationship, and B. can DNA testing show the degree to the relationship, ie. withing "X" generations? David
