John was born approximately 1843 in Campbelltown(??); parents may have been John & Rosanna McKenzie, though that may just be family misinformation. My g-grandfather John emigrated to the USA (either as a shiphand or a stowaway), arriving in New York City around 1860, possibly earlier. He married Irish-born Mary Clancy about 1863, and they had 7 children. When Mary died in 1875, John married German-born Anna Meyer and father 4 more children. He died in Brooklyn, New York in 1901 from tuberculosis. The only reference I have to John's birthplace is on the death certificate of one of his son's, which makes mention of "Cambelton, Scotland."
