From what I can gather they were emigrants of The William Tell who setteled around Bra D'Or in 1817. There is yet another John MAcKinnon mentioned in his note,a shoe maker from Tangusdale on Barra who arrived with his wife and wase granted land at Benacadie(?)...His brother Neil was also in the party and setteled in BArra Glen. A forth John MacKinnon came from Barra( Island of Vatersay..south of Barra ) with his wife CAtherine MAcLean and six children. They setteled at MacKinnon's Brook...He goes on to mention John( Ian Mor)... hope this helps someone searching MacKinnons from Barra to Nova Scotia
