AYMK, in the 1871 census for Nairnshire, there are three McNeil families all from Barra: Hector (ae 52), Alexander (ae 30) and John (ae 37). I'm descended through Alexander. His son John is buried in the Nairn cemetery. If there's a connection, would like to hear from you.
