Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TeC.2ACE/1150.1 Message Board Post: I recall seeing a photograph, about 40 years ago, of a model-T Ford ? being driven up the old track to the Ben Nevis observatory, which was situated just below the summit. I think the photograph was taken in the area where the track had climbed clear of the lower slopes and had reached the zig-zags on the shoulder of the Ben. The observatory fell into ruins and was just a heap of stones by the early 1960's. The photograph, I think, would have been taken in the 1920's and at a guess I may have seen it displayed in a museum at Fort William - possibly in a magazine or book.

I remember articles in the Sunday Post in the 1950s or early 60s, one of which was about things taken to the top of Ben Nevis. I think there was a car, and probably a piano as that was the time when there was a lot of piano-smashing going on. Sheena
