My great, great grandfather was John Ian Maclean (b. 1840, Muck) son of John Maclean, of Muck. John was the son of John Maclean and Sarah nee. MacAskill. John Sr. died 1875 and Sarah in c.1850. John Sr. was the son of John Maclean, Tacksman and Innkeeper on Muck and Sarah, was the daughter of Rev. Malcolm MacAskill, Minister of the Parish of the Small Isles. I am not sure if your Greatx3 Grandfather is the same as mine. I am still exploring this part of the family. I visited the MacAskill family graves in Skye three weeks ago, but did not get to Muck where I hope to go on my next visit.
