JJDILL1@aol.com wrote I am hoping someone will have information on this John Greig. This is my gggrandfather. This is the only information I have. John Greig, Pvt. of British 79th Regiment (Queens Own Cameron Highlanders) and wife Mary died in the cholera outbreak in Toronto, Canada in 1834, leaving my ggrandfather an orphan. In the family bible it say he was born in Inverness SCT. no birth date. I am at a dead end on this. - -------------------------- I am also seeking Greig ancestors Andrew Greig born abt 1802 Gask, Perthshire, married Marion Arbuckle born 1800 North Uist, Inverness, Scotland in 1829 in North Uist, Inverness, Scotland. They had 4 childrem William b1830, James b 1832, Ann b1833, and Andrew b1843, William, my gg grandfather and Andrew came to Australia and settled in the latter part of the 19th century. The ancestory of the Arbuckles is shared with Lorraine another list member so is well researched however the ancestry of Andrew Greig is reallly stalled. Andrew was a schoolteacher. It seems that my Andrew and the John Greig listed by JJDILL1 were contemporaries in Inverness so I have taken the chance to list him as well. Geoff Carse Brisbane
