My family of Kennedy's came from Leanchanbeg after being cleared from the Brackletter farm, Bell Kennedy daughter of Alexander Kennedy married Alexander MacDiarmid in 1826,he was a war pensioner from the first regiment of foot, the family had disappeared after the 1841 census and the only clue of them was from a mention in the Inverlochy castle rental records extolling the great quality of Mrs. MacDiarmids vegetables it also said her husband was a cripple and that they lived in a wretched heather hut on the castles march. There is a further mention in 1847 on Boxing Day when the castle sent at the suggestion of Miss McDonnell a little sugar and coffee to Mrs. MacDiarmid, Miss McDonnell is obviously a close relative. My Great-grandmother Isabella MacDiarmid when she gave information of her mother she always referred to her as Isabella McDonnell not Kennedy, this may have been because her grandmother was a McDonnell. What I am looking for after all that is where would the closest graveyard to Inverlochy castle be, they would not be buried within the castle grounds but probably near to the where they lived by the roadside, also I am looking to see if there are transcriptions for the CLUNES and BLAROUR graveyards, I cannot find their graves anywhere else in Inverness and am still looking. I am also very interested in hearing from any other researchers of the Kennedy and McDonnell families from Leanchanbeg and Brackletter. Many Thanks in anticipation. Ray Gavan Sydney
