    3. Please do NOT use the subject "Roll Call" or anything similar. Use a name, a surname, a location: something which distinguishes your message from all others. People who receive the digest version do not want to view twenty messages all with the same subject. And people who like to browse the list archives will never look at a message entitled "roll call." Don't just list every surname you are researching: people like to correspond with folks when they think they have a possibility of a match, and hesitate to correspond if no further information is supplied. PLEASE add some information to your list of surnames: a date range, a town, a first name. And please, keep those surnames to Inverness families. Thank you. > Hello all and a belated Happy New Year for those who celebrate that and a belated Happy > Hogmanay for the rest of you. > > Reposting my family names of interest in LOCHABER.

    1. Roll Call - MCLEAN, MCLEOD Taransay
    2. Val Burge
    3. I'm always happy to jump on the 'roll-call' bandwagon :-) My .... umm, I won't call them a brick wall, more a final point I've got to... is: My gg grandparents Roderick and Mary (Mary-Ann?) MCLEAN left Taransay in the 1840's for Fort William, and from there in 1854 to Victoria, Australia on the 'Persia'. They ended up in Lancefield. I have details of them and children Margaret, Norman, Rachel, Christina, Richard, Catherine, William, Finlay and Mary. I have them on the 1841 and 1851 censuses, shipping records, and varied details on the entire family in Australia. I would LOVE details of Roderick and Mary's births (circa 1809 and 1811 respectively). I have no idea of parents, birthplace etc. Roderick was born 'in the parish' of Harris, Mary 'out of parish'. Any help greatly appreciated. Val Burge, Sydney, Australia http://members.dodo.net.au/valburge/mclean.html
