    1. Re: [SCT-INV] Re: Poor records for William Fraser
    2. Hi Lynn I have loads about their "siblings" and "parents" but didn't want to confuse the issue.I do need to confirm they are correct and seeing as though the records for birth and marriage were before 1855 and the death certs are vague, incomplete and in some cases wrong I am desperate to find definitive proof they are the correct family, hence the search for the poor records which have invaluable information on the family of the applicant. Alas I didn't realise how valuable until I had left Inverness on my yearly visit!! William Fraser b 1815 - 1824. From research and illimination and a letter from the Clan Fraser Society of Canada I am working on the assumption that William's parents are William Fraser and Mary Mcdonnell ( McDonald).Unless proven otherwise! Their children 1800 (10 July 1800) - Thomas #1 - drowned 1803 (17 Jan 1803) - John 1808 (14 Nov 1808)- Christy 1811 (20 Dec 1810/26 Jan 1811) - Catherine 1812 (27 May 1812) - Margaret 1815 (no birth record) - * Alex - Game Keeper at Glenmazeran, married Sarah S(w)inton >18?? (no birth record) - Hugh - Manager at Laggan Farm, married Eliz./Marg. Mann 1821 (no birth record) - Donald - Superintendent of Police, Dunoon 1824 (27 Apr 1824 ??) - ** William married ***Isabella Matheson of Ferrintosh or Contin , Ross 1826 (02 May 1826) - Ann 1828 (21 Apr 1828) - Duncan - Farm manager/crofter married Betsy Cameron of Ballochan, Boleskine.d 1889 1830 (07 Jan 1830) - Mary 1834 (30 Jan 1834) - Thomas #2 - also drowned **William Fraser bc 1815 - 1824 married ***Isabella Matheson of Ferrintosh or Contin , Ross*** Isabella Matheson's death cert states her parents were Roderick Matheson and Catherine Matheson MS Matheson. I believe this to be wrong and her Mother's MS was actually Morrison. She had one known sister called Mary.Various records state Isabella was born either Ferrintosh or Contin .Mary, her sister and Catherine, her mother lived together in Scatwell, Contin and are on the 41 and 51 census. The Mother died in 1861 aged 100! Mary's father was Donald Morrison and Mother Margaret McKenzie. **William Fraser and ***Isabella Matheson married in Inverness in 1842. William and Isabella had the following children Catherine b 26 Jul 1843 Green of Muirton,Inverness, Invernesshire. Ann bc 1845 birth not registered. William bc 1849 birth not registered in Boleskine or Daviot, lived in Grantown area and married 1. Elsie Cameron 1869 Nethybridge and 2.Clementina Cruickshank in Forres 1896 and settled in Elgin.Died 1936. Alexander b 1852 married Annie Gordon Kirriemuir in 1875. Roderick b 29 Jan 1854 Tomnahurich St, Inverness, Invernesshire.Married Susan Stuart 1876 in Blair athol.Died 1914, Elgin. John b 23 MAR 1858 Glenlea, Boleskine, Inverness, Scotland.Living at Milton of Petty 1883. Thomas b and d 1860 Moy and Dalarossie.
