There is some evidence, not primary, that my g-grandfather Malcolm McKay came from Benbecula and was either grandson or possibly s/o Miles McKay of Benbecula. It's been said that Miles father or g-father was an armourer to the Cameron Clan on Islay before moving north to Snizort on Skye. I wonder if there's any connection. Malcolm's first record in Grey County,Canada is 1871 census showing his children back to 1855 being born in Canada West (Ontario). Malcolm & his wife Mary MacDonald of Eriskay, South Uist had 8 children including the eldest, Angus and youngest, Neil. We also have an Angus McKay b. 1811 who emigrated to Balls Creek, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. Trying to sort out my Mckay ancestors is difficult. All but the only daughter of my Malcolm later moved on from Ontario to Saginaw County, Michigan, USA Andy
