Dear Ken, The Glasgow Herald newspaper carried advertisements for most of the long distance sea journeys at that time. It also carried a 'shipping news' column. A microfilm copy is on the public shelves at thr Mitchell Library in Glasgow, but I don't know how you can access the information in New Zealand.
