Get a map of Quebec and trace a nine up the two main western highways from Montreal. They both split from each other just off the Island of Montreal, the 40 will take you to Toronto along the St. Luarance, (Lawrance) River, the other the 117 archers north to Ottawa. Hawksbury, (Prescot Russel County) is just about 10 miles over the Ontarion Border. Lancaster is on the 40 going to Toronto, well almost on it.They are about 60 miles apart as the roads go. It was at one time where the train, (Montreal Toronto run) was probably split for those going to Ottawa. Hawksbury is a town with a population of about 40,000 including the rural areas about 50% French. Lancaster is probably about 2,000 including cats dogs and cattle and about 90% Scots. Glengarry County has one of the largest Highland games in Canada in MaxVille, and has their largest Town/village of Alexandria where the police station is. There are massive historic societies, there and the last NATIVE Gaelic speaker only died about 5 years ago or so. If Lancaster does not have a web site I know that Maxville, about 20 miles up the road does.
