    2. AEnone McRae-Clift
    3. Hi Gordon, In most state of Australia, these records are not on line, because of the privacy rules governing certificates from more recent times. If you know which state your ancestor may have died in it would help. However in Victoria, they have released the deaths index right up to 1980. I could have a look at those for you if you wish. Otherwise, you would need to write to the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in each state, pay the required search fees ( not cheap) and hope that they come up with something. Let me know anyway. Cheers from Tasmania AEnone

    3. Here is a turnabout request for the AUstralian members of the list. I am searching for a more modern day relative of my family line who emigrated from Scotland to Australia sometime after 1959 and died there before 1982. How does one go about getting a death certificate from AUstralia. Can one do it online or must it be requested via mail? Can SKS give me some advice? Regards, Gordon Harbison Canton, Mich. USA

Where the hospital was. in Inverness. >dave > Hi Laraine Just to start you of Connage is quite a famous place in Highland Medieval history but it is not in >Abernethy & Kincardine<. It is on the Eastern edge of Inverness Airport near Ardersier. I am sure there is more than one place of this name in Scotland but I can not find one in the area you are looking for. It may have been a croft or small holding. Then again without knowing what context it is mentioned in the OPR I can not do more than speculate. With regard to "Loindichintnan" even for a Scottish place name it sounds a bit strange. I would hazard a guess that it is way of the mark. If I was to suggest a place that sounded close it would have to be "Lochan nan Cnapan" which is at the south end of the Parish of Duthil and Rothiemurchus. I am still working on Auchernich ( could it be Auchternich). Hope this helps and will not confuse. All the best from Inverness George -- George D. 3. Dear Carol Did you know that you have access to the International Genealogy Index at Redcliffe Library? Also look in the phone book for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they have a family history library (free) and very helpful volunteer librarians. When you go to the public library or the LDS library ask them for help, they will be willing to help. The International Genealogy Index was compiled by the LDS church and is an index of births marriages and some deaths, and is commonly known as the IGI. It is arranged under countries and then states or areas. e.g. Glasgow would come under Lanarkshire I think it was. But your librarian will show you. The names are indexed in alphabetical order, and if the event was recorded in a parish church of some sort it will be bound to be found in the index! After your find your names and note all the details from the index you can order the corresponding film (each parish register or record was microfilmed) and this will cost you a huge $6 for something like 40 days. You have access to the film to look through at your convenience. May I suggest that if you do the above and order the film, you look through the entire film and write down details of all, and I mean all, of the surnames you are looking at. My first attempt I just went to the record I wanted and wrote down what the details were. when I became more into the genealogy I realised that I needed the film again, as there were births etc on that same film for the same family! Also, the LDS is accessible on the internet, although it can be frustrating as it is slooooow at times (so many hits per day slows it down). If you need more tips please feel free to email me, I am in Burpengary. There is an LDS in Buckley Road Burpengary (this road runs paralell to the Bruce Highway and is only a minute off the highway from the Morayfield turnoff. I cannot go and look for you I am sorry, too many committments and no vehicle (it died, boo hoo) otherwise I would be happy to do so. Anyway, happy tree climbing, hope you find much success. Oh, an excellent start for Scottish genealogy is Janet Reakes book, think it is called Tracing your Scottish Ancestors. You might find it in the library also, although I referred to mine 10 million times and was glad I bought it. kind regards Carol Staples

Does anyone else have this couple in their family tree? If so I would love to hear from you so that we could establish which is which - or who is who?! Why couldn't all my ancestors have perculiar names, it would make life so much easier. Cheers Bev Armstrong New Zealand
