    3. Hi all, I am a descendent of Mary MacEachern, who left the Isle of Eigg in 1843 with nine of her 10 children for Cape Breton Island, Canada. She was the widow of John MacEachern, who died prior to their departure from Eigg. Her children were Dougald, Hugh, Catherine, Angus, John, Margaret, Ronald, Roderick, James and Mary. Catherine, who married Angus Campbell, remained and later immigrated to Ontario, Canada with her family. I have been unable to learn anything about her or her family prior to their leaving Eigg. John Sr. was the son of John Maclean, Tacksman and Innkeeper on Muck and Sarah, was the daughter of Rev. Malcolm MacAskill, Minister of the Parish of the Small Isles. I am not sure if your Greatx3 Grandfather is the same as mine. I am still exploring this part of the family. I visited the MacAskill family graves in Skye three weeks ago, but did not get to Muck where I hope to go on my next visit.

    3. Does anyone have any information about Lewis Cameron (Occupation Saddler on 1881 Census). Living in a tenement at 40 So Side, Cromdale with his parents John and Margaret (nee Fraser)? He was aged 36 at the time and was unmarried although I think he had fathered a child (John) with Jessie Grant. I think he was my GGGrandfather and would like to find out what his movements were after 1881. Also his son John (born 1/4/1872) living in Cromdale (aged 9) with Jessie Grant and her parents William and Margaret (nee ???) both aged 69. There is also a Jessie Brown aged 9 living in the house shown as William Grant's Granddaughter - any help on this would be appreciated too. Mark Cameron

Many thanks to the replies from so many people about Harbour St. and Cooper St. in Plockton.I have a lot of old letters written to my grandparents in N.Z from Catherine Macrae--wife of William McKenzie [son of John McKenzie and Catherine McLennan-shipowners in Plockton ]describing their wedding in 1886 and the harbour procession of local sloops including Finlay Macraes sloop. William and Catherine,s only son William McKenzie died of the flu' epidemic while here in N.Z in 1919[he was in the merchant navy]--he is buried in my family's McLennan plot here in Papakura,which we have just cleaned .It is a large plot full of all our McLennan ancestors.
