    3. Hi Marion, I am descended from some MacDonald's on Skye. My grandfather, Neil MacDonald lived in Sleat and Strath on Skye. I know he was living at #11 Upper Breakish, Strath in 1901. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada first to live with his brother, John MacDonald then on to Michigan where he made his home. I haven't run across the name Jane in the research of my MacDonald's. Do you have any other names? Do you have any idea when John might have moved to Michigan? ...gail... > I am interested in any MacDonalds from the Isle of > Skye. I have a Mary Ann Bisset Johnston who married a Ewen Macdonald of Uig. They were married in 1865. Mary Ann is the sister of my great grandmother. I have Mary Ann and Ewen Macdonald living in Aberdeen in 1881 next door to Robert and Jessie Cran who are my great grandparents. I don't know who Ewen Macdonald's parents were but it would be reasonable that there may be a connection.

    2. M. Martin
    3. Hello all, I am trying to find info on a McGilvray family who ended up in Canada. Joseph McG who married a Catherine MacDougall/McDougal. Their kids were, Annie, Isabelle, Mary Ann, Louis Devine, Sanctimus Wilfred, Catherine, Caroline. I think Catherine MacDougal was born abt 1840 and married abt April 29, 1863. I am guessing that Joseph was born abt 1835 or so. I know at one point they were at Prince Edware Island. If you run across any of these names please drop me an email. I have been trying to find info on this family for almost 2 years now. Thanks Marliese, [email protected]

AYMK, in the 1871 census for Nairnshire, there are three McNeil families all from Barra: Hector (ae 52), Alexander (ae 30) and John (ae 37). I'm descended through Alexander. His son John is buried in the Nairn cemetery. If there's a connection, would like to hear from you.
