Well, I'm not sure if you looked at my website but I'm trying to put together (first) the Inkson's of Cromdale (almost dead end) & the Moray branch (of Keith & Rothes). I have quite a bit of detail on the later but I come from Isabella Inkson (my last posting), who was illigitimate. Her father being recorded as James Inkson, Ploughman or Couchman. Isabella lived her whole life at Grantown, Cromdale. I have no idea abt her parents lives. The Kirk Session Minutes where blank during Isabella's birth so no clues there. Her parents James Inkson & Mary Cattanach I assume didn't marry after her birth, but maybe they did. There's nothing on the IGI on any of them. There was a James Inkson born in Keith which could fit him but there isn't a way to be sure.So are you related to any Inkson's on my website ? There are a couple of other branches of Inkson's from Aberdeen. I'm sure they are probably are related in some way. Speak to you soon. Glenn Perry

I, too, am interested in apprenticeship records -- if such exist. My grandfather, Alexander Cameron, would have been an apprentice saddler in the 1870s. Sheila in Missouri
Apologies to those who receive this on more than one list. I'm looking for everyone who can claim a family connection to McKERRELLs on the Isle of Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland. They are widely scattered and are known to have settled at least in Canada, South Africa, East Africa, USA and Australia. The reason for the search is to invite them to the very first family reunion called "The McKerrells Return to Islay" http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm, to be held on Islay from 11 to 13 June 2004. The event is designed to be high on fun and low on formality, a chance to meet new relatives and old friends, and to find their place in the family tree. The Chieftain of the McKerrells, Charles McKerrell of Hillhouse, has expressed an interest in attending. The date was chosen to complement "Tilleadh Chlann Ile" (http://www.islayreturn.com) a family history event for subscribers to the SCT-ISLAY list that is being held on Islay from 6 to 10 June 2004. I know there are lots of Islay McKerrell descendants out there, whatever their present surname and however it is spelled. If you know of any, I'd be grateful if you can pass on to them the text of this message, or simply let me have their e-mail address.. I can be contacted at [email protected], or via the Islay McKerrells website at http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm. My grateful thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. I didn't try it for further information about this marriage as I had spent 90 credits proving my ancestors and had blown my budget. Even then, two people, one from New Zealand and one from the UK, provided the definite proof for my families connection to Nigg, Ross & Cromarty and for a further sibling William McLeod - born in Nigg but having family in Forres, Moray. Donald MacLeod and Christian Fraser might be the grandparents of the children born in Nigg.

I have just come off their on-line looking for my Alexander McLeod. It is fee based but I have found a number of family info (including a copy of a birth registration of my grandmother McLeod/Forbes brother which none of my siblings knew about) I have a listing of Alexander McLeod births but they are from 1800 - 1816 and it gives both parent names (maiden names) and Parish as well as birth date if that is of any help
Hello, I have been looking in on this List with interest, now hoping for guidance from the experts. My x2 Grt.Grandfather was a William McCLOUD who was a seaman perhaps even a captain.I have no knowledge of where he was born it could have been somewhere in Scotland or in Ireland. His daughter Julia was born in Co.Wexford circa 1848 she married in a Catholic Church near Cahore Co,Wex. in 1878 William was listed as a seaman on her marriage cert. There was also mention of a Richard McCLOUD in August 1880 he was my Nanna's godfather,an uncle probably. Oral tradition would have a link to Scotland, aunts thought that it was Julia who came over to Ireland but the link has to be further back.I haven't been able to locate the birth of Julia in Co.Wex. as yet, hoping for clues when I do. I have found mention of McCLOUD seamen in 1861 their place of birth being Skerries to the north of Dublin.Again in the same from area a McCLOUD in America stating that his ancestors had settled in Ireland following the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie,'he put into port ,liked it and stayed',obviously wouldn't I like 'the cap to fit',but proof is all. Would I be right in assuming that the family started out as McCLEOD and because they ended up in Ireland anglicised it to McCLOUD? Are there any particular areas that I should begin my searching in,given that they are Catholic? Any ideas, advice really appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks. Suzanne Dodd

Have the MIs for Kirkhill been collected? If so, where could I obtain a copy of the collection? Many thanks, Sara
This is very interesting!!! Archibald/Jean, Lachlan, Ann and Duncan, are part of the family of Christina MacPHERSON, who put Banjo's "Waltzing Matilda" to music. I'll check out the others.
