I am delighted to hear there is another book out and will hot foot it up to the library to have a look. The bulldozers that were expected in 1965 were I think the ones for the whizzy new road. Concrete stilts across the Meadows and back down to Waverley via Jeffrey Street or something equally barking. That never happened, but there certainly has been a lot of "redevelopment". The continuation of Fountainbridge along to Dundee Street passes by the huge S&N brewery - I believe there were once a lot of tenements on this site. Earl Grey street was widened, losing the buildings on the side nearest the castle. This site - the SMT triangle - was argued over for many years. There is now a huge new office building there, with shops underneath. Riego Street was part of this area. The current phase of development is being driven by the alleged need for more office space.
