Hi I am a newcomer to the Edinburgh list and am researching the name of STARK. My Starks are as follows: Isabella Hay married William STARK and had children: William, born 1821, Kirkintilloch Isobel, born 1824, Kirkintilloch Alexander, born 1827, Kirkintilloch James, born 1830, Kirkintilloch Robert, born 1832, Kirkintilloch John, born 1838, Kirkintilloch John STARK married Mary LOUDON (or HUNTER, 1st marriage) in 1873 and had the following children: William, 1875, Glasgow Janet, 1876, Glasgow David, 1879, Glasgow Isabella Hay, Glasgow Both John and Mary died in 1885/1884 respectively. I believe the children were brought up by a STARK member of the family (grandmother). Isabella Hay STARK married John EDGAR my great grandfather. She was said to have married beneath her social status. My grandfather remembers when he was a youngster in 1910/1920's, a member of his family, STARK's, would come to Glasgow from Edinburgh by car (most unusual!) and take them to Edinburgh for a day trip or for weekends.
