Hello Edinburgh Listmembers, I have struck a brick wall in researching my wife's family. They appear in the 1891 Census: 2 Caledonian Cottages, West Coates, Edinburgh George Gilfillan, Head, Mar., 41, Boiler Maker, Canongate, Edinburgh Margaret Gilfillan, wife, 43, Kirkaldy, Fifeshire Catherine Gilfillan, daur, Umarr., 17, Buttonhole Puncher, Leith, Edinburgh Mary Gilfillan, daur, 12, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanarkshire (born 28 July 1878, Springburn, Dennistoun) Margaret Gilfillan, daur, 10, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanarkshire Agnes Gilfillan, daur, 7, Scholar, Glasgow, Lanarkshire Georgina Gilfillan, daur, 4, St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh William Gilfillan, son, 5mths, St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh In 1881, given the above information, they were probably living in or near Glasgow but I could not find them, even trying name variations etc. (I have also searched for them in England and U.S.) Any help would be much appreciated.
