John, My great grandfather, John Kirby b. 1843 in Yorkshire, England was a sailor before settling in the areas of Greenock and Edinburgh. How would I go about finding when he settled and his history before he did. He was in Greenock in 1880 and moved to Edinburgh in about 1885. Thank you for your help. Carolyn - Utah, USA
