Please could sks look up the baptism records for Margaret Honyman daughter of Sir William Honyman and Mary McQueen. She was born c1796 as she is age 45 in the 1841 census where she was living at 6 Shandwick Place Edinburgh. Many thanks Philippa
I have a marriage certificate of one of my more closer relatives who tied the knot in 1906. William ROWAT who married Jane Hannah REID declared his occupation as being "Assistant Pier Master". Does any one know where I might find any other records of Pier Masters please? William ROWAT was clearly dedicated to the sea, living with his grandfather in Mull, who was a Pier Master there, present at his grandfather's death. Would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of the Pier in Edinburgh. Its not something that we automatically think of being present in Edinburgh, so I hope it might spike the interest of other listers. Janet
Janet He was more likely to be employed at Leith Pier if he resided in Edinburgh. Put " Leith Pier Master" minus the quotes into Google and a number of interesting articles come up. Alex.
