Hi Ann & Ann Thank you both for replying so quickly. I dont know Helen's married name, if indeed she ever married. Last seen in the 1861 census, the two women had a lodger named Robert Gossip a newspaper editor. I wonder if he was still around in 1881? Kathleen
I am wondering if any one here has any records relating to the Pier. My Gt Uncle was Assistant Pier Master there in 1906 aged 31 when he married. I checked out his given address, i.e. Caroline Park, Granton, Edinburgh but didnt find much else. Does any one know where the Pier Master records might be kept please. His name was William ROWAT or ROWATT and he married Jane Hannah REID. Any help gratefully acknowledged, thanks. Janet
