You dont give a source for your info so perhaps this will duplicate what you already know. My first thought was that you are only going to find this in the regimental records. But although this was not a marriage in the established church, any other marriage would have had the banns read in the parish church, perhaps soldiers were the same. according to Wiki, the parish church for the Castle is the Canongate Kirk - even though there are others much nearer. So I would look there for a banns record. You can check out the regiment at www.regiments.org, Judy On 12 Jan 2007, at 08:08, Suzanne wrote: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Suzanne > To: [email protected] > Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 3:58 PM > Subject: Scottish Marriage > > > Hello I am new to this list, recently I found my 6xGrandparents > GEORGE MOSS & HELEN REID were married Edinburg March 1777, they > were married by Chaplain of Regiment, Church of England, at this > time he was in the 70th Regiment ( no further information on this ) > > would there be a marriage certificate ? or a record of the marriage > > any help appreciated > Suzy > [email protected] > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SCT-EDINBURGH- > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes > in the subject and the body of the message
