Hiya There's a good chance that John wasn't christened and that's why you can't find his birth/christening record. It may also be that the volume of OPR that his christening was recorded in has gone missing when the LDS photographed 'all' the OPRs. Although not of that faith I have found , on behalf of others , a number of pre 1855 christenings and marriages not shown in the OPR's being held at Scottish Catholic Archives , Drummond Place , Edinburgh. http://www.catholic-heritage.net/sca/ Andrew Nicol , the Archivist ,has been most helpful to me and many of my friends Good luck Margaret ! Could I have a suggestion as to which parish 'Edin High' would refer to?
