Thank you Janet for responding! He died in Quebec City and his death record states that he was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland...in 1785 as you suggested. I know it is difficult to find records before census, etc., but just thought perhaps someone on this list had some McGie's in their ancestry...or Drummond's, of course.
