Sorry Meg I had incorrectly place the wrong date for their marriage it should have been Sep 1 1791. ----- Original Message ---- From: Meg Greenwood <scotquester@bartnet.net> To: sct-edinburgh@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, 4 September, 2008 2:48:14 AM Subject: Re: [SCT-EDINBURGH] HAMILTON and SCARLET Like Jacquie, I too have looked for this marriage, started in the INDEX films at the FHC, then realized it should very well be in the IGI, then I can check the Index films if needed. There's simply no record in the IGI of this marriage. There were several marriages for Thomas HAMILTONs in Midlothianshire but none of the wives were anything near a SCARLETT though some were Isabellas. So I checked the INDEX films for 1870 and found no matches, there were 3 Thomas HAMILTONs who wed that year but none to anyone with SCARLETT or similar. In fact, there were no SCARLETT names at all in that year's Index. Are you sure of the circa 1870 marriage year ??? I did a search at ScotlandsPeople and there were no marriages for a Thomas Hamilton and Isabella Scarlet listed in the Statutory Register. I didn't put date or place parameters on the search. The only Thomas Hamilton and Isabella Scarlett marriage I could find in St. Cuthberts took place in 1791 so obviously not yours. > > Jacquie > Winnipeg, MB > Canada ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SCT-EDINBURGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message Win a MacBook Air or iPod touch with Yahoo!7. http://au.docs.yahoo.com/homepageset
