Hello List Has anyone a marriage for any of the following people: Mabel ALLEN born 1881 Harold ALLEN born 1882 Ethel ALLEN born 1883 Nellie ALLEN born 1887 They are four of the children of Henry ALLEN who was a wireworker. They were from Bristol, but had also lived in London, and were in Edinburgh in 1901 - so the marriages could have been "anywhere"! I have the marriage of the other daughter in Bristol in 1912, and there is a possible marriage for Ethel in Cardiff the same year, think I will have to send for certifcate to see if that is her! As I know nothing about Scottish research apart from that as far as I know there is no equivalent online to FreeBMD, could someone please tell me if the indexes are in a similar format? I believe these can be searched in person in Edinburgh? Thanks Bev

Hi Bev Did Ethel have a middle name? There are 5 marriages on the Scotlands People index for an Ethel Allan (not Allen) in Scotland between 1900 and 1932. I think Allan is the Scottish version of Allen. Ethil Emily Allan m John Tait Watling in Edinburgh in 1916. Ethil Maree Allan m Harry Cummings Gordon in Aberdeen in 1919 Ethel Jane Allan m John Cochrane in Edinburgh in 1923. Ethel Lillian Allan m Alexander Chalmers in Bellshill, Lanarkshire in 1923 Ethil Allan m James Morrison in Aberdeen in 1931. There are 3 marriages for a Harold Allen (not Allan) between 1855 and 1932. all after 1910. They are: Harold Allen m Annie Jeffrey in Dunoon in 1915 Harold Herbert Allen m Margaret Stewart in Pollockshields, Glasgow in 1921 Harold Allen m Agnes Herbison in Glasgow in 1925.
