Margaret Arnott married John Aitken in 1824 at St Cuths. Margaret was residing at 1 Cheyne St Stockbridge and was the dau of Thomas Arnott stocking weaver in Sciennes So what is Sciennes? John and Margaret's children were Robert 1824, Agnes 1826 ,(both named after his parents) Catherine 1831 and John 1835 All born at StCuths. The Aitkens I know but can't connect with the Arnott family. I am looking for a birth of Margaret Arnot, father Thomas, but no go in Edinburgh that I can find. According to the 1841 census she was 50 and in the 1851 census she was 64 making her born c 1789- 1791 supposedly in Edinburgh. There were 2 marriages for a Thomas Arnott one in 1778 to Grizell Russell father James                   Thomas Arnott married Margaret Aitken father William in 1787. Both at St Cuths So I can't figure out which might be Margaret's parents. I can't find John Aitken and his wife Margaret (Arnot) in the 1861 census. In the 1851 census they were at ThorneyBank, Edinburgh. Neither can I find their deaths. So any help would be appreciated cheers Marilyn from Western Australia ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SCT-EDINBURGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
