    3. Thank you, Judy - your message caused me to review my original documents from Scotland's People - and then I also had a couple of typos on my part. So to amend the info - George JACK, a bank porter, married Christian LOGAN 1 July 1800 in Edinburgh. Christian's father was an ale labourer in Tranent. They had at least 5 children: - Margaret JACK, born 25 Apr 1801; baptized 3 May 1801 in Tranent, East Lothian - Christian JACK, abt. Jan 1803 in Durness, Sutherland - 1803 OPR from Durness reads "George Jack, Grieve or principal servant with Mr. Dunlop in Balnaciell and Christian Logan, his wife, both of Lothians, had Christian, baptized 26th January" - Robina JACK, born 24 March 1805, baptized 7 April 1805 in Tranent, East Lothian - William Graham JACK, born 24 Dec 1806, baptized 18 January 1807 in Haddington, East Lothian - George JACK, died 15 Jul 1885 in Markinch - 1861 and 1871 Census documents from North Leith and South Leith respectively indicate he was born in Spittlerigg, Haddingtonshire; 1881 Census from Markinch states he was born in Leith; however no OPR birth registration in Haddington, East Lothian for a George JACK found at Scotland's People site; only George Jack in that time period is the George JACK born April 25, 1808 in Daviot, Aberdeen. The OPR reads "George Jack, tenant in Mosside House had a son baptized George". Given that his parents had travelled to northern Scotland in 1803, it is also possible they were in Daviot, Aberdeen in 1808. It is possible that Christian LOGAN may have been born/baptized February 20, 1779 to John Logan and Margaret Logan in Tranent. This may be reflected in the fact that her first daughter was named Margaret, following the Scottish naming pattern. It is possible that George JACK, senior, may have been born April 11, 1779 to William Jack and Margaret Thompson in Gladsmuir, East Lothian. This may be reflected in the fact that his first son was named William, following the Scottish naming pattern. Now back to George JACK, junior - If he was not born in Daviot, Aberdeen, the other prospect could be "that he was in fact "William Graham Jack" and went by the name "George" as his ages on the various documents show his birth date to being quite close to that for William Graham JACK - 1841 Census - age 30 - makes birth date abt. 1811 - 1851 Census - age 41 - makes birth date abt. 1810 - 1861 Census - age 50 - makes birth date abt. 1811 - 1871 Census - age 61 - makes birth date abt. 1810 - 1881 Census - age 74 - makes birth date abt. 1807 - 1885 Death registration - makes birth date abt. 1807 I have full BMD/Censusdetails on George JACK, junior, and am willing to exchange info with anyone else researching this family.
