Can I join in this Alison discussion? My relative inventor William YOUNG http://www.makers.org.uk/penicuik/heatandlight#three and his wife Christina AL(L)ISON were living at Duddington at Magdalen Bridge Chemical Works in the 1860s and their son John Alison YOUNG was born there in 1864. Although Christina's father became a blacksmith in Fife, there may have been a connection with the Duddingston ALISONs.
