    3. Hi Pam I don't have your family in my tree, but have just looked at the birth index on Scotlands People and found 14 children with the surname "Lettice" (not Lettuce) born in Midlothian between 1913 and 1925. All were in districts of Edinburgh. The images aren't available on Scotlands People for these years, and not all of these will be children of William and Margaret, but some sound very likely candidates. They are (in name order): Agnes Yorkson 1915 Christina 1920 George Lawrie 1919 Isabella H Dick 1916 James 1923 Janet Briggs 1919 Joan 1924 John 1916 John 1923 Margaret 1920 Margaret 1923 Nellie Paxton 1917 William 1913 William John B R 1913 Rhoda ----- Original Message ----- From: "pam.groves1" <pam.groves1@ntlworld.com> To: <sct-edinburgh@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 06, 2008 9:33 AM Subject: [SCT-EDINBURGH] HAS SOMEONE GOT WILLIAM LETTUCE & MARGARET PAXTONIN THEIR TREE > Hello List, > Has someone on the list got William LETTUCE and Margaret Ritchie Rodger > PAXTON In their tree Please? > > Margaret R R Paxton born on 28 July 1887 at Bell Close, Fisherrow, > Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. > She was the daughter of James T C Paxton and Christina C R Rodger. > William Lettuce and Margaret R R Paxton were married on the 3 June 1913 at > St, John Street, Edinburgh. > > Someone checked her death year out and said she died in 1970 at Haymarket, > Edinburgh. > Do anyone know if William and Margaret Lettuce had any children please? > Do anyone have them in their Tree Please? > > Thank you in advance for any information I might receive. > > Kind Regards > Pamela J Groves nee PAXTON > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > SCT-EDINBURGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    3. Hello Rhoda, Thank you very much for checking for me. Yes I did notice that I could not find Lettuce births when I have been on Scotlands People. I wonder why? Thank you anyway. I would think that the Nellie Paxton Lettice would def be one of theirs though? 3. Hi Pam Yes, and I think that the other likely candidates would be George Lawrie (William's mother's maiden name was Margaret Lawrie), Christina (after Margaret's mother), one of the Williams and one of the Margarets. William's father's name was Andrew. 1. Re: [SCT-EDINBURGH] Birth Index query?
    2. CandROverson
    3. H Marilyn I looked at the "Births 1855-2006" in the Statutory Registers (you have to register in order to be able to do this). And you need to enter at least a surname. You could search for one surname between 1855 and 2006, but not advisable unless it is a very unusual name. You can search at no cost, but it costs 1 credit to look at one page of results and each successive page of results will cost you an additional credit. To look at the image of an entry, where available, would cost you 5 credits. You can do the same with marriages (between 1855 and 1932), and deaths (between 1855 and 2006). And you can go through the same process with the baptisms and marriages on the Old Parish Registers. Hope that helps Rhoda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Watson Family" <watsonb@iinet.com.au> To: <sct-edinburgh@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 06, 2008 11:32 AM Subject: Re: [SCT-EDINBURGH] Birth Index query? > At 07:55 PM 6/10/2008, you wrote: >>but have just looked at the birth index >>on Scotlands People and found 14 children with the surname "Lettice" ( > > > Hi Rhoda, > How do you look on the birth index at Scotlands people?
