    1. [EDB] searching NEWINGTON & GRANGE CEMS

    3. Hello Donald I dont know whether the MIs have been indexed but here is the info for searching the registers: Grange burials are indexed. Newington are not. There are no burial records for Newington after 1931 because it was owned for a period by a private company and records were lost in a fire. To view the burial records you need to make an appointment to go to the office which I think is still out at Mortonhall (I forgot to ask but I am pretty certain). The phone number is 0131 664 4314 if calling from overseas drop the zero and add international code (44) You can view the records during the times 10 am to 12 noon Mon to Fri and 2-4pm Mon to Thurs, but you need to book. Who knows, since you have an exact date you could always try phoning, explain you are from overseas, and ask if they can look for you during a quiet moment.
