Hello Listers Gently placing "my" Elizabeth ROBERTSON in the ring here. She and her husband William BORTHWICK are not my family but I am researching them for someone else in Australia. William BORTHWICK married Elizabeth ROBERTSON, 27 January 1827 in St Cuthberts, Edinburgh. Found one child only for William Borthwick and Elizabeth Robertson, an Archibald born on 21 September 1818 in Edinburgh, (C119835 Fr 512). He was born however, nine years before this William and Elizabeth were married. Could he be the child of another couple? Could be illegitimate and have changed his birth date to match his parents marriage year. (ie the Archibald born in 1818 and the one born in 1827, see below, just might be the same person.) Another possibility is that the date on the IGI record is wrong and should be 1828?? Another is that the age at death below is wrong. And a further possibility is that there were two couples, William BORTHWICK and Elizabeth ROBERTSON. If anyone on the list can help on that point I'd be most grateful. Another (or a first) Archibald BORTHWICK was born to William Borthwick and Elizabeth ROBERTSON in 1827 in Edinburgh, Scotland (per Victoria Australia death index, died 4 December 1865 in Victoria (aged 38 years). I have not found him on the IGI etc so this birthdate may be quite wrong.
