Hello Listers Just came across a wonderful site - The Derivation of Edinburgh's Street Names In Two Parts - http://www.ebs.hw.ac.uk/STREETS/ The stories for the various streets include lots of the history of Edinburgh. Hope it helps some. Listers; By back-tracking you can nab the source of this great site. Finding the portal to the referenced URL previously noted was a little confusing. I did find it interesting that not "all" Edinburgh streets were so blessed. "Society" for example, an enclave of row houses east of Grey Friars Church was not noted. Maybe someone can fill that wee detail in for me. Apparently, it was levelled for a parking lot for the above noted famous church! This URL will take you to the main address for more extensive study of Edinburgh and its history. http://www2.ebs.hw.ac.uk/edweb/edc/welcome.html I am also interested in anyone who is doing research in the (Tradeston, Anderston, Hutchesontown) area of Lanark. If you have access to any census data from there I would like to contact you off-list.
