Dear Steve, Extract from History of the Society of Writers to his Majesty's Signet: Scheniman, Hope (4.6.1829) [ie date he was elected ] Apprentice to (1) Robert Y Anderson; (2) Archibald Crawford; and (3)R.Y.Anderson.- Youngest son of Ferdinand Scheniman, Accountant in Edinburgh. Died 28.11.1858, aged 54, unmarried. There are no other Schenimans listed. As a matter of interest he was elected two years after my ancestor John Nairne Forman, of Staffa. Should you find any records for Accountants (ie Ferdinand) of this period (ca 1800) I would be interested in hearing from you. Alexander Forman (1781-1853) was also an Accountant.
