What a difference a good night sleep makes, last night I put in a request for a look up for Bethune 1871. Then this morning I realized that they were not even in Edinburgh at that time, one of there daughters born 1872 was born in Elgin, Moray. So my apologies for wasting your time. I have information on the 1881 census that gives Alexander Bethune's age as 67 yrs but his death certificate says 53 yrs, that is why I was looking for an earlier census to see what age he was then. I do have another inquiry that I am having I problem with, that maybe someone on the list could help in some way. Alexander Bethune shot himself at 9 Leslie Place, 30th November 1889. I was trying to see if there was any mention of this in any of the newspapers at the time. I have been in contact with the Scotsman on line, but so far they have not replied, this was Jan of this year. I am in California so checking the National Achieves myself is out of the question. But if anyone has ideas how I could go about checking on this event please let me know. I have an aunt in Edinburgh but I am not sure she would know were to look. I guess what I am really asking is, if some one is in the library of the National Archives could they check for me. All the best. Sandra p.s. Thanks Judy.
