Would it be reasonable to assume there can't have been more than one Salt Manufacturer in Tranent in the 1880s?! Or perhaps Tranent was centre of a Scottish Gold Rush - but for salt?! The Formans that did the manufacturing seem to be the sons of the Mrs Forman of the Levenhall pub. Not my lot. Any Industrial Historians out there? This was also a cottage industry at one time. Will have at my notes and come back asap. Regards. John D. Stevenson A.M.I.Mar.E. Mild,windy,13C, Edinburgh.
