    1. [EDB] Edinburgh Deaths 1820's
    2. Can anyone recommend a good method of checking for deaths for the 1820's in Edinburgh? My 4th great grandmother apparently died around 1826 in Edinburgh and not knowing how large this City was back then and what sort of records are retained from that era, I don't know where to start. Any advice is appreciated. Regards, Brett Prentice Brisbane, Australia

    3. Hi Brett Finding deaths in the old parish registers 1533-1854 are few and far between a lot of parishes didn't record deaths the few who did are vague scots origins does a free surname search just click this link http://www.scots-origins.com/SurnameSearch.asp I did a search on the surname Prentice with the following results Results showing the number of records with surname Prentice between 1553 and 1899 in each dataset: Scots Origins dataset No. of records Old Parish Record Births/Christenings (1553-1854) 1119 Old Parish Record Marriages (1553-1854) 730 Statutory Index Births (1855-1899) 2526 Statutory Index Marriages (1855-1899) 1018 Statutory Index Deaths (1855-1924) 1478 1891 Census 1881 Total 8752 and as you see there is nothing in the OPR for deaths you could try your local LDS family centre I have heard of an old Jewish man who used to go round the cemetery's recording the names from the stones and as far as I know the LDS has put it no to the computer there may be a CD with this information on it the Edinburgh FHC is below Edinburgh Scotland 30A Colinton Road Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland Phone: 131 337 3049 If you could give me all the info you have on her I will see what I can do from here.
