Hullo everyone I am a newcomer to the list and I am hoping someone may be able to help me. Two of my g-g grandparents, William Cochrane and Jean Collier, were married in Edinburgh at the Leith Wynd Chapel on 24 November 1814. Is the chapel building still standing today? Is anyone able to direct me to a brief history of the chapel or to where I might find an illustration of the chapel - preferably as it looked in the first half of the 19th century. The Minister of the chapel who officiated at the marriage was the Rev. Joseph Robertson. Mr Robertson was "deposed" as a Minister of the Church of Scotland on 2 May 1818, having been convicted by the High Court of Judiciary of celebrating unlawful marriages, and uttering fabricated certificates of proclamations. Would the 1818 records of the Court still exist and if so, where are they held and is it possible to have access to them. Any help would be very much appreciated.
