I just received a copy of the OPR from Dalkeith which lists the marriage of my ancestors, John GIBB & Janet HARDY in August 1804. John is identified as a soldier in the ---- Militia (can't read name of militia) and Janet is identified as being from the Parish of Cockpen. By 1811 they were in Leslie, Fife where daughter Jean was christened. They had 3 more children christened in Leslie: Thomas Hardy Gibb 1816 (my ancestor); James Gibb 1817; and Janet Lillburn Gibb 1819. Is anyone researching the HARDY family in Cockpen Parish around this time? Can someone tell me what militia was in Dalkeith about this time? LaVerne
