Thistle Street was so named in 1775 . In 1790 the section between Charlotte Square and Castle Street was renamed Young Street and that between Castle Street and Frederick Street renamed Hill Street. >From that time Thistle Street ran( and still does) from North St David Street(St Andrew's Square) to Frederick Street.
